About Us

Wabash Telephone Cooperative was established in 1952, starting out as a small telephone cooperative and has seen significant growth throughout the years. Wabash Telephone is locally owned by its members and has 4,353 access lines in nine exchanges throughout South Central Illinois. The cooperative is governed by a board of nine directors representing the exchanges served by the cooperative. In addition to providing basic phone services to their members, they also operate two wholly owned subsidiaries.

ITA (Independent Telcom Assoc.,Inc.) was incorporated in 1982. ITA (113 Hagen Drive, Flora) is an agent of Alltel, providing convenient cellular service for the area. ITA has a telephone & fiber division located in Effingham at 3009 S. Banker Street. This division of ITA offers business telephone systems, computer cabling, voice message systems, and special need communications equipment.

WIN (Wabash Independent Networks) located at 113 Hagen Drive in Flora offers Video TV service throughout the nine exchanges and Cable TV service in Flora and Noble. WIN is the local choice for long distance and offers Cable Modem Internet in Olney, DSL in the WTCI exchanges, Dial-up in various areas, and High Speed Internet in Flora.

Wabash Telephone and its subsidiaries, ITA and WIN, employ a total of 48 full time employees and four part-time employees. ITA & WIN not only provide services to the cooperative members, but also to areas outside the nine exchanges. Wabash Telephone and its subsidiaries consistently strive to keep up-to-date with the latest technology and maintain a level of service, which is unsurpassed. The goal of all three companies is to be innovative, responsive, and adapt to the changes in our business environment.

Better Communications is their Goal

As the industry continues to develop at a rapid pace they are eager to continue to look for new opportunities to serve the members of Wabash Telephone Coop and the surrounding area. Already technology allows for new forms of video entertainment and high-speed Internet. To ensure that they meet the needs of their customers, they are developing the necessary systems to being offering new products and services.

Service

They strive to provide the best customer service because they live in the same communities in which they serve, they understand their customer's needs. they know how important it is to speak to a live person instead of a complicated voice system. They know when someone has a problem they want repair service immediately, not next month. So, they strive for rapid response with highly trained technicians.
